Best MLB World Series Value Bet
We can make a case for the Phillies and Padres as the best World Series value bets this season. The Phillies with (+1700) odds have to be worth considering. However, the Padres have a good chance of finally showing up in 2023.
Does Fernando Tatis Jr. remain healthy? If so, the Padres will be the team to beat in the NL West. Tatis Jr. missed all of last season with a wrist injury after recording 42 home runs and 97 RBIs in 2021.
Manny Machado excelled without Tatis Jr. in the lineup. He recorded a .298 batting average, 32 home runs and 102 RBIs。
Without Tatis Jr., the offense was still a respectable 13th in the majors., with 4.34 runs per game. Put Tatis Jr. back in the lineup, add Xander Bogaerts, and you can see tha tthis team will be potent offensively.
The starting rotation will be in good shape with Yu Darvish, Joe Musgrove and Blake Snell. Even the backend of the rotation with Michael Wacha and Nick Martinez should contribute. In 2022, the Padres were 11th with a team ERA of 3.81.
Starting Rotation:
- Y Darvish
- Joe Musgrove
- Blake Snell
- Michael Wacha
- Nick Martinez
The bullpen is the greatest asset of the Padres, though. They have an opportunity to be a Top 3 bullpen in 2023. Josh Hader and Robert Suarez are dependable, while Pomeranz could be one of the best relievers in baseball if he’s healthy.
The Padres are our best value bet to win the 2023 World Series.
Best MLB World Series Long Shot Bet
We like the Phillies at (+1700), but they come short of being considered a long-shot team.
A long shot that can realistically compete in October is the Cleveland Guardians. With 2023 World Series betting odds at (+2500), there is plenty of appeal for the Guardians.
For one, they should win back-to-back AL Central titles and make the postseason. The Twins will be better this season, but the Guardians are the team to beat.
Cleveland finished the 2022 campaign with a record of 92-70 and were 11 games in front of the White Sox25. They stand to improve after adding Josh Bell and Mike Zunino.
The Guardians had zero production from their catchers last season. Zunino could prove to be an X-factor that they didn’t have on their roster in 2022.
From the top of the rotation to the back, the Guardians should be fairly consistent. There is good depth in their pitching staff. Zach Plesac is the fifth option after posting a respectable 4.31 ERA and 1.32 WHIP a season ago.
Starting Rotation:
- Shine Bieber
- Triston McKenzie
- Cal Quantrill
- Aaron Civale
- Zach Plesac
The Guardians reached the 2022 ALDS despite having an offense ranked 19th in the majors with 4.23 runs per game. Key additions in the offseason will likely improve this unit.
2023 World Series Prediction
For the reasons mentioned above, we like the San Diego Padres to win the World Series in 2023. The Padres must be healthy, but you could say that for a lot of teams this season.
Machado and Tatis Jr. have a chance to be the most fearsome duo in all of baseball. Additionally, Tatis Jr.’s arm in rightfield can’t be understand. Expect plays of his laser to third base replayed often this season.
Coupled with a consistent rotation and strong bullpen, the Padres have a chance to bypass the Dodgers in the NL West. We are betting on the Padres at (+850) to win the World Series against the Astros.
